Moly King
New England Fold Belt - Moly King Project (100% Impact)
The Moly King Project comprises two tenement applications (EPM16499 and EPM16500) located near Stanthorpe in the New England Fold Belt in south eastern Queensland. The Project covers a major granite complex and adjacent rocks and is prospective for deposits of gold, molybdenum, tin and tungsten.
Tin was first discovered in the Stanthorpe area in the 1870's and about 50,000 tonnes of the metal was mined from alluvial and eluvial deposits. EPM16499 contains a large number of historical tin workings in the north and two significant molybdenum prospects, Moly King and the dormant Leis Molybdenum Mine in the south.
At Moly King previous drilling in the early 1970's identified anomalous molybdenum over a 500 m by 500 m sized area. Six diamond drill holes were completed and results for molybdenum included 23 m @ 0.02%, 68 m @ 0.01%, 28 m @ 0.05% and 100 m @ 0.015%.
Recent work has suggested that many tin-tungsten provinces are prospective for intrusion-related gold deposits similar to those at Pogo and Fort Knox (each 5 M oz gold) in Alaska, as well as at Kidston (5 M oz gold) and Timbarra (0.4 M oz gold) in Australia. Accordingly Impact's tenements will also be explored for this style of deposit.
